Can we move on now?
Sure, we can move on. But they won’t. And to be honest, I don’t think we should encourage them to. Why? Because this is a HUGE problem for the Republican party. That video with that lady is awesome! Limbaugh is now in on the birther thing. And let’s be serious, they don’t want to have an actual discussion about any actual issues anyways. It’s not like if they get over the natural born citizen conspiracy we’d all of a sudden have an honest debate about health care and the deficit. If it’s not this, it’s something else. But! That something else might be slightly more reality based, might appeal to a few more people than the crazies in the base that they’re riling up, and might actually gain them some traction in the real world of political discourse. If the Republican base continues to buy into the birther thing in greater numbers, by 2010 they’ll be demanding that every candidate running under the GOP banner stand up and take back our country and get this impostor out of office! And the minute they nominate someone who agrees with that nonsense, that’s the minute they officially lost that election.
